LOOK: Hubert Davis tells RJ Davis he won ACC Player of the Year

RJ Davis became the first North Carolina player since 2017 to win the Atlantic Coast Conference Player of the Year award, as the conference announced the annual awards after the regular season on Monday.

Davis won the award with 68 points on the 75-member panel, beating out Kyle Filipowski (3), PJ Hall (2), Armando Bacot (1) and Quinten Post (1) in the race. And it really wasn’t close.

The senior guard averaged 21.1 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 3.5 assists per game this season. He did so while leading UNC to a 17-3 record in conference play. That included a sweep of rival Duke.

Davis will also see his jersey go in the rafters as he met the criteria for that with the program. With the moment being so special, North Carolina captured the moment that Hubert Davis broke the news to Davis in front of his teammates:

The Tar Heels are still in Chapel Hill awaiting to lave for the ACC Tournament as they played Thursday in the quarterfinals. UNC is the No. 1 seed in the ACC Tournament and are hoping to make run to a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament.
