Lonzo Ball out for Pelicans with left hip flexor soreness vs. Cavaliers

The New Orleans Pelicans will again be without Lonzo Ball on Sunday evening in Cleveland. For the second straight game, Ball will be sidelined with a left hip flexor soreness. The team announced he would be out on Saturday after also missing the team’s game on Friday against the Sixers.

The team ruling Ball out with the injury 24 hours before the game is certainly interesting considering how long he was considered questionable with his right hip flexor strain. That New Orleans has back-to-back games on Sunday and Monday could have factored into the decision.

Ball returned last week on Sunday against the Rockets, helping the team to a win before taking part in blowout losses to the Hawks and Nets.

Without Ball, the Pelicans relied heavily on Zion Williamson as a point forward to lead them to the win against Philadelphia. New Orleans has four games this week including Sunday’s in Cleveland. The Pelicans host Sacramento on Monday, New York on Wednesday and travel to Washington on Friday.
