Texas has an illustrious history, and the Red River game is no exception.
Despite an abhorrent last thirteen years for the Texas football program, the Longhorns have beaten the Sooners twelve more times than they have lost (62-50-5).
Steve Sarkisian will look to earn an illusive first win over Oklahoma this season.
Sarkisian boasts perhaps the best quarter for Texas in the storied history of the game. His 28-point first quarter stunned nearly everyone present at the Cotton Bowl last season. It was all downhill from there. A Caleb Williams touchdown run began a Texas collapse, spoiling the bid for a first win.
Texas coaches have generally fared well in the game. Here is a comprehensive list of how each of Sarkisian’s predecessors have fared in the game since 1929.
