LOCAL ROUNDUP: Andrews boys beat Morehead

Feb. 7—EDEN — T.W. Andrews defeated Morehead 78-73 in overtime in Mid-State 2A Conference boys basketball Tuesday at Morehead.

The Red Raiders improved to 7-16 overall and 4-7 in the conference.

HIGH POINT CENTRAL, ROCKINGHAM COUNTY

WENTWORTH — High Point Central fell 68-53 against Rockingham County in Mid-State 3A Conference boys basketball Tuesday at Rockingham County.

The Bison dipped to 8-12 overall and 5-6 in the conference.

In the girls game, Central lost 60-10 to move to 0-20 and 0-11.

SOUTHWEST GUILFORD, NORTHERN GUILFORD

GREENSBORO — Southwest Guilford topped Northern Guilford 74-61 in Metro 4A Conference boys basketball Tuesday at Northern.

Stevon Harrison had 19 points, eight rebounds and four steals for the Cowboys (16-5 overall, 8-3 conference). Mikhai Twyman added 16 points, while Corbin Wilson had 14 points and six rebounds.

In the girls game, Southwest lost 67-18 to move to 13-7 and 6-5.

HIGH POINT CHRISTIAN BOYS, THE BURLINGTON SCHOOL

BURLINGTON — High Point Christian defeated The Burlington School 76-66 in nonconference boys basketball Tuesday at The Burlington School.

Isaiah Sanders had 20 points and four steals for the Cougars (24-3). Elijah Cathcart had 15 points and four rebounds, while Max Van Weerdhuizen chipped in 14 points and five rebounds.

WESLEYAN CHRISTIAN, CALVARY DAY

WINSTON-SALEM — Wesleyan Christian beat Calvary Day 83-72 in PTAC boys basketball Tuesday at Calvary.

Zacch Wiggins scored 28 points while Luke Morgan had 21 points to lead the Trojans (17-11 overall, 5-7 conference). Quamir Ingram chipped in 10 points.

In the girls game, Wesleyan rolled to an 86-26 victory to improve to 20-10 and 6-4. Kennedy Jackson scored 15 points, followed by Taylor Hawley and Ashley Brown with 14 points each.

WESTCHESTER COUNTRY DAY, GREENSBORO DAY

HIGH POINT — Westchester Country Day gave Greensboro Day a fight but fell 52-44 in PTAC boys basketball Tuesday at Westchester.

Jalen Umstead scored 15 points to lead the Wildcats (8-17 overall, 0-11 conference). Nolan Patterson added 14 points, followed by Josh Bayne with 11 points.

BISHOP McGUINNESS, BETHANY COMMUNITY

SUMMERFIELD — Bishop McGuinness cruised past Bethany Community 94-17 in Northwest Piedmont 1A Conference boys basketball Tuesday at Bethany.

Nicholas Graves and Alex Waterfield each scored 25 points for the Villains (19-3 overall, 15-0 conference). John Campbell added 12 points, followed by Arop Chom with nine points.

In the girls game, Bishop rolled to a 74-23 victory to improve to 18-3 overall and 11-0 in the conference. Adelaide Jernigan scored 26 points to lead the Villains, while Kiersten Varner added 12 points and Emma Wagoner had eight.

EAST DAVIDSON, SALISBURY

SALISBURY — East Davidson lost 94-55 against Salisbury in Central Carolina 1A/2A Conference boys basketball Tuesday at Salisbury.

The Golden Eagles — who were highlighted by Tegin Hedrick eclipsing 1,000 points for his career — dipped to 12-9 overall and 2-6 in the conference.

GLENN, MOUNT TABOR

KERNERSVILLE — Glenn edged Mount Tabor 66-62 in Central Piedmont 4A Conference boys basketball Tuesday at Glenn.

The Bobcats improved to 7-14 overall and 1-10 in the conference.

In the girls game, Glenn lost 66-24 to move to 2-19 and 0-11.

LEDFORD, ASHEBORO

WALLBURG — Ledford lost 93-47 against Asheboro in Mid-Piedmont 3A Conference boys basketball Tuesday at Ledford.

The Panthers fell to 6-15 overall and 2-5 in the conference.

RAGSDALE, SOUTHEAST GUILFORD

JAMESTOWN — Ragsdale defeated Southeast Guilford 65-50 in Metro 4A Conference boys basketball Tuesday at Ragsdale.

KJ Burke scored 19 points while Cam Wise had 16 points for the Tigers (3-18 overall, 2-9 conference).

In the girls game, Ragsdale lost 56-49 to move to 5-13 and 1-10.

THOMASVILLE, SOUTH DAVIDSON

THOMASVILLE — Thomasville beat South Davidson 68-35 in Central Carolina 1A/2A Conference boys basketball Tuesday at Thomasville.

The Bulldogs improved to 13-7 overall and 6-4 in the conference.

In the girls game, Thomasville lost 49-18 to move to 0-18 and 0-10.

TRINITY, PROVIDENCE GROVE

TRINITY — Trinity rolled past Providence Grove 79-51 in PAC 1A/2A boys basketball Tuesday at Trinity.

Dominic Payne scored 36 points to key the Bulldogs (14-8 overall, 7-3 conference). Brandon Campbell contributed 14 points while Evan Stepp had 10 points.

In the girls game, Trinity lost 63-23 to move to 0-22 and 0-10.
