You’ll Swing Like Ford in a 1973 Country Squire
The LTD Country Squire wasn't the only full-sized station wagon Ford sold during the 1970s (there were cheaper Country Sedans as well), but its name is the one we remember nearly a half-century later. Here's a magazine advertisement for the 1973 Squire.
The tailgate that could open downward for cargo or swing out for passenger access (with the window open or closed) was a very useful feature, as was the ability of the 1969-1978 big Ford wagons to fit 4x8 sheets of plywood in the cargo area. Why even bother with a Caprice Estate, Ambassador Brougham, or Fury Sport Suburban?
