Liverpool FC 4 - 3 Fulham FC

Liverpool vs Fulham

16:11

The full-time whistle blows to bring a quite remarkable game to an end, as Liverpool take the spoils with a 4-3 triumph at Anfield. They were twice pegged back in the first half, with Alexander-Arnold's exquisite free-kick opener cancelled out by Wilson, before Tete levelled on the stroke of half-time after Mac Allister had put Liverpool back in front with another great strike. Fulham then got their noses in front for the first time with 10 minutes to play, De Cordova-Reid powering a header home to put the visitors on the verge of a shock away win. Things would all go wrong for Silva's men, though, and Endo came off the bench to level before Alexander-Arnold sparked jubilant celebrations as he lashed home his second for the eventual winner. That could prove to be a vital comeback victory for Liverpool, as they move to within two points of leaders Arsenal at the Premier League summit. For Fulham, they remain just eight points above the bottom three. They will look to bounce back when they host Nottingham Forest on Wednesday, while Liverpool will travel to take on struggling Sheffield United the same day, looking to continue their great form. That is all we have from Anfield, so thanks for your company and goodbye!

Klopp's men are starting to ramp up the pressure now as they seek a way back into this game. Fulham could be in for a nervy last couple of minutes.

Liverpool vs Fulham

15:54

BIG CHANCE! Salah spurns a golden opportunity for his 200th Liverpool goal and a leveller. Diaz nods goalwards from a corner, and Leno can only parry into the path of Salah at the back post. The Egypt international shoots from a difficult angle, but the ball flies over the crossbar, much to Fulham's relief.

Liverpool vs Fulham

15:51

Klopp responds to Fulham's third goal by bringing on Endo for Gravenberch in midfield.

Liverpool vs Fulham

15:51

Having twice led, Liverpool now find themselves behind at Anfield. This could be a huge blow to their hopes of lifting the Premier League title, and Klopp will be desperate to see a response from his team.

Liverpool vs Fulham

15:46

Reed looks a little shaken up after a challenge in midfield, though the Fulham man will try and soldier on.

Liverpool vs Fulham

15:43

Silva again looks to his substitutes, bringing on De Cordova-Reid for Iwobi to freshen up their attack.

Liverpool vs Fulham

15:43

Substitution Kenny Joelle Tete Timothy Castagne

Liverpool vs Fulham

15:42

Liverpool have produced 18 shots compared to Fulham's seven, yet their xG (expected goals) tally of 1.04 is only slightly higher than the visitors' (1).

Liverpool vs Fulham

15:39

Gravenberch opts to go for an ambitious long-range strike, but it proves to be a poor decision as his shot is straight at Leno, who makes the save.

Liverpool vs Fulham

15:36

Substitution Job Joël André Matip Ibrahima Konaté

Liverpool vs Fulham

15:30

CHANCE! Salah manages to nudge a deft header towards Nunez in the Fulham box, but the striker skews his shots and the ball bounces harmlessly wide of the target. It has just not quite happened for Nunez so far in this game.

Liverpool vs Fulham

15:30

Substitution Andreas Hugo Hoelgebaum Pereira Willian Borges da Silva

Liverpool vs Fulham

15:28

Nunez has hit the woodwork five times this season. That's over twice as often as any other Premier League player (15 players have hit it two times).

Liverpool vs Fulham

15:28

Diaz again fires straight at Leno, and the Colombia international will be disappointed not to have worked the goalkeeper more in this game having scored against LASK in midweek.

Liverpool vs Fulham

15:27

Fulham have won none of their last six away Premier League games (three draws, three defeats), though their last win was on Merseyside in August, a 1-0 win at Everton. Indeed, Fulham have won four of their last five away league games against Everton and Liverpool, having only won one of their first 55 such visits in league football beforehand.

Liverpool vs Fulham

15:24

Diaz cuts onto his right foot before curling goalwards, but his shot is straight down the throat of Leno, who makes an easy save. Liverpool have started this second half brightly, though so far Fulham are surviving.

Liverpool vs Fulham

15:22

OFF THE BAR!!! Liverpool fly forward on the counter-attack, and Salah slides a throughball into the path of Nunez in the Fulham box. The Uruguay international races onto it before letting fly, but the ball cannons back off the crossbar before Fulham scramble clear.

Liverpool vs Fulham

15:20

Szoboszlai fires goalwards from 25 yards out, but his dipping shot ends up flying well wide of the left post. He will be disappointed with that effort.

Liverpool vs Fulham

15:19

Both sides have picked up where they left off in the first half, throwing plenty of bodies forward in their pursuit of the fifth goal in this game.

Liverpool vs Fulham

15:17

This is the the first time Liverpool have both scored and conceded two or more goals in the first half of a Premier League game at Anfield since September 2020 against Leeds, and the first time Fulham did so home or away in the division since October 2018 at Cardiff.

Liverpool vs Fulham

15:14

The hosts get the ball rolling again for the second half.

Liverpool vs Fulham

15:02

Silva will be encouraged by his team's performance in that half. So many teams go a goal down at Anfield and crumble, but Silva's men are made of stronger stuff and could even have gone into the break ahead, had Ream's disallowed goal stood moments before half-time. For Klopp, Arsenal's win on Saturday means three points is imperative here, and he will be looking for his players to ramp up the pressure following half-time.

Liverpool vs Fulham

15:00

The half-time whistle blows to bring a pulsating first half to an end with the scoreline 2-2 at Anfield. Liverpool have twice led through stunning goals, the first of which came from Alexander-Arnold with 20 minutes gone, arrowing a superb free-kick in off the bar to hand the hosts the lead. They would be pegged back just four minutes later, Robinson firing in a low cross which was turned home by Wilson against his former club. Liverpool would regain the lead through Mac Allister, who struck from all of 30 yards out with an incredible finish. However, the visitors would again level before the break, Jimenez nodding the ball on to Tete, who poked past Kelleher and in to send the teams back to the changing rooms at two apiece.

Liverpool vs Fulham

14:58

HALF-TIME: LIVERPOOL 2-2 FULHAM

Liverpool vs Fulham

14:57

Salah can score his 200th Liverpool goal in this game, and he tests Leno with a low shot. The angle was always against him, and the Fulham goalkeeper is able to make the save.

Liverpool vs Fulham

14:55

Since a 1-0 defeat to Fulham at Anfield in March 2021, which was the sixth consecutive league defeat suffered by the Reds on home soil, Liverpool have lost just one of their last 48 Premier League matches at Anfield (37 wins, 10 draws) – a 2-1 loss to Leeds United in October 2022.

Liverpool vs Fulham

14:54

NO GOAL!!! Liverpool again fail to deal with a corner as Palhinha rises highest to nod Pereira's delivery goalwards. Kelleher gets down to his right to make the save, but he pushes the ball straight into the path of the incoming Ream, who prods into the back of the net. However, the flag again goes up for offside, and this time the decision stands as it remains 2-2!

Liverpool vs Fulham

14:53

Silva's men are looking eager to try and get their noses in front for the first time in this game. They are the side pressing now.

Liverpool vs Fulham

14:51

Goal Kenny Joelle Tete

Liverpool vs Fulham

14:47

There will be nine minutes of additional time at the end of this first half, in large part due to the lengthy break for Leno to receive treatment early on.

Liverpool vs Fulham

14:45

As we close in on half-time, Silva will be desperate for his side to make it to the interval just the one goal behind. They have acquitted themselves well so far, though that could change if Liverpool find another goal before the break.

Liverpool vs Fulham

14:43

Fulham will be relatively pleased with their defensive efforts, yet they find themselves behind because of two exquisite goals. That is the problem you face sometimes when going up against a side with Liverpool's quality.

Liverpool vs Fulham

14:39

Goal Alexis Mac Allister

Liverpool vs Fulham

14:38

Fulham have scored just four goals in 16 Premier League away games against Liverpool, and never more than once in a match. It's the lowest goals-per-game ratio (0.25) of any team to play more than 10 away games against an opponent in the competition, though they have already bettered that here.

Liverpool vs Fulham

14:37

A corner causes havoc in the Fulham box, sitting up nicely for Van Dijk to lash goalwards. However, Wilson does brilliantly to race out to the Liverpool man and block his fierce effort before the visitors eventually scramble away.

Liverpool vs Fulham

14:34

Robinson strides forward from left-back before letting fly, though his shot takes a deflection off Matip and goes behind for a corner. Silva will be encouraged by how his team have grown into this contest.

Liverpool vs Fulham

14:32

Since his Premier League debut, Alexander-Arnold has scored more free-kick goals than any other defender (six). He is such a threat from set-pieces.

Liverpool vs Fulham

14:31

Tsimikas whips a free-kick delivery into the Fulham box, but Matip cannot find the target with his header and it bounces away harmlessly for a goal-kick.

Liverpool vs Fulham

14:29

That goal came from out of nowhere really, with Fulham yet to trouble Liverpool at all until equalising. That should give the visitors hope they can come away with a shock result here.

Liverpool vs Fulham

14:26

Assist Antonee Robinson

Liverpool vs Fulham

14:25

Goal Harry Wilson

Liverpool vs Fulham

14:25

Alexander-Arnold got the late leveller for the Reds away at Manchester City last time out in the Premier League. The right-back is on a roll at the moment.

Liverpool vs Fulham

14:25

It is absolutely vital for the visitors that they do not concede another goal in the next couple of minutes, or this could end up being a really long outing. Liverpool are knocking the ball out superbly and look full of confidence now.

Liverpool vs Fulham

14:20

Goal Trent John Alexander-Arnold

Liverpool vs Fulham

14:20

Szoboszlai is brought down around 30 yards out from goal, and the likes of Alexander-Arnold and Salah will be fancying their chances of hitting the target from here.

Liverpool vs Fulham

14:19

The delay for Leno to be treated has taken the momentum out of the game, with both teams struggling to get back into their full attacking flow since the restart.

Liverpool vs Fulham

14:17

Despite the lengthy treatment, Leno is going to try and play on here with a bandage around his head. Liverpool will be looking to test him as quickly as they can.

Liverpool vs Fulham

14:15

Leno is still down receiving treatment, and it seem the former Arsenal man has a problem with his head after that coming-together with Diaz. Rodak is on the touchlines warming up.

Liverpool vs Fulham

14:13

Leno is down and seemingly in a lot of pain after that incident that led to the disallowed goal. Silva may be forced into an early change between the sticks.

Liverpool vs Fulham

14:11

NO GOAL! Fulham hearts are temporarily in mouths as Leno spills Szoboszlai's shot straight into the path of Diaz. The Colombia international manages to nudge the ball past the goalkeeper before Salah turns home, but the flag immediately goes up for offside to curtail the celebrations. There is a VAR check, though that confirms the on-field decision and it remains 0-0!

Liverpool vs Fulham

14:09

Fulham are making sure to get bodies behind the ball when Liverpool have possession, and this could prove a frustrating outing for the hosts if they just go through the motions.

Liverpool vs Fulham

14:08

Liverpool have lost just one of their last 10 Premier League games against Fulham (seven wins, two draws), a 1-0 home loss in March 2021.

Liverpool vs Fulham

14:04

The first chance of the game falls to Diaz as a clever spin takes him away from Bassey, though his eventual shot is at a nice height for Leno, who makes a comfortable save.

Liverpool vs Fulham

14:01

The visitors kick us off and we are under way on Merseyside!

Liverpool vs Fulham

14:01

The two sets of players make their way into the cauldron of noise that is Anfield, and we are now just moments away from kick-off.

Liverpool vs Fulham

13:54

Marco Silva makes three alterations to his starting XI from the Wolves victory, with a couple of those changes perhaps surprising given their performances in that game. Cairney and Willian both impressed, the latter scoring twice from the spot, yet they drop to the bench for Palhinha and Wilson. The other change sees Tete come in for Castagne at right-back.

Liverpool vs Fulham

13:54

Jurgen Klopp makes six changes from the 4-0 thumping of LASK in midweek that secured Liverpool's place in the Europa League knockout stages, with three of those coming in his backline. Matip, Van Dijk and Alexander-Arnold come in for Quansah, Konate and Gomez, while Szoboszlai and Mac Allister return for Endo and Elliott. Nunez is preferred to Gakpo up top, despite the Dutchman netting twice in the LASK win.

The visitors picked up a much-needed win at home to Wolves on Monday, their first victory in five Premier League games. However, positive results for Everton and Burnley on Saturday mean Fulham could do with another win here to extend the gap to the relegation zone to 11 points.

Liverpool vs Fulham

13:38

The hosts have their sights firmly set on a first Premier League title since the 2019-20 campaign after a superb start, one that has them heading into this game in third.
