Lions part ways with VP of player personnel Kyle O’Brien

One of the few remaining holdovers in the Detroit Lions front office from the Bob Quinn era is no longer with the team. The Lions have ended their relationship with vice president of player personnel, Kyle O’Brien.

O’Brien had been with the Lions since 2016, when he joined forces with GM Quinn. Prior to coming to Detroit, O’Brien was the director of collegiate scouting for the Jacksonville Jaguars. He was initially the director of player personnel before being promoted to vice president prior to the 2018 season.

It’s not an unexpected move. O’Brien had no real ties to anyone in the new front office, led by rookie GM Brad Holmes. Ray Agnew, who came with Holmes from the Los Angeles Rams, effectively holds the same position in Detroit as what O’Brien formerly did for the team.
