Lions get back to winning ways by 15 over Ichabods

Feb. 29—It was win No. 20 on the season for the Lions as the women's basketball team picked up a 66-51 victory on Wednesday night over Washburn at the Leggett & Platt Athletic Center on the campus of Missouri Southern State University.

MSSU (20-7, MIAA 16-5) led by 13 at halftime and just maintained that double-digit advantage throughout the second half by winning each quarter by 1 point.

The Lions had lost three of their last four coming into this meeting with the Ichabods.

Kryslyn Jones led the home team with a game-high 19 points and Ryan Franklin chipped in 18 off the bench. Franklin also pulled down eight rebounds. Kaitlin Hunnicutt joined those two in double figures with her 12 points.

Washburn (12-15, MIAA 7-14) was led by Yiibari Nwidadah and Aubree Dewey with 14 and 13 points, respectively.

MSSU will conclude regular season play at 1:30 p.m. Saturday when it hosts Northwest Missouri State University.
