From Women's Health

  • Olympic skier Lindsey Vonn and fiancé P.K. Subban got engaged in August 2019.

  • P.K. has played in the NHL for 12 years and is a defenseman for the New Jersey Devils.

  • P.K. says he has 150 suits in his closet, but one of them is actually a women's string bikini.

They say opposites attract. However, the newly-engaged Lindsey Vonn and P.K. Subban seem pretty well matched.

In August 2019, the elite athletes announced their engagement after dating for almost two years. (Subban celebrated "putting a ring on it" in an Instagram video of him singing Beyoncé's "Single Ladies" to Vonn.) Not only is the couple known to speed along on the ice—one on skis and the other on skates—but they are absolute beasts in the gym, too. "Can’t wait to spend the rest of my life with this crazy/kind/handsome/hyper/giving man," Vonn wrote on Instagram.

Lindsey has even more to celebrate these days: Her new dog competition The Pack debuts on Nov. 20 on Amazon Prime. Not familiar with the show? It features 12 teams of dogs and owners on an epic adventure across multiple continents, according to Deadline. (Think: The Amazing Race, but even more amazing because dogs!)

Ahead of Lindsey's new show, the couple have been living their best quarantine life together recently. P.K. shared this sweet message to his fiancé on Instagram in October: "Happy Birthday ❤️ let’s grow old 👨🏿🦳👵🏼🤘🏿."

Lindsey also recently told Us Weekly that #pandemic life has "tested" their relationship, but that they’re doing great. "I definitely think that we learned a lot about each other we love each other more after this time," she said. (BTW: The two "definitely" want to have kids at some point, Lindsey told Us.)

Now, after winning three Olympic medals and the record for most medals at a World Championships by an American, Lindsey has become a household name. Her fiancé, however, may not be so familiar—if you're not a hockey fan, anyway.

Meet Pernell-Karl, aka P.K., Subban. Here's everything you need to know about him.

P.K. Subban is a professional hockey player.

While you may not know much about P.K., he’s actually a BFD in the pro hockey world. Currently, he plays for the New Jersey Devils, but has been played in the NHL for about 12 years. The Montreal Canadiens first drafted P.K. in 2007, and he went on to win a gold medal as part of Team Canada at the 2014 Olympics in Sochi.

He's also played as a defenseman for the Nashville Predators before getting traded to New Jersey's team this year. P.K. went all the way to the Stanley Cup Finals with the Predators, but the team lost to the Pittsburgh Penguins.

He used to be a polarizing figure on the ice.

P.K. is what’s known as an "enforcer," meaning his role on the team is to be a tough guy on the ice. In 2013, he was named one of the "most hated players" in the NHL, according to Sports Illustrated. Bleacher Report also called him one of the "biggest villains" for the Montreal Canadiens.

"A big reason people either love him or hate him is he’s a great player, and that aggravates people," Brad Marchand of the Boston Bruins told Canadiens Magazine in 2013 of P.K. "But there’s a lot that comes with his game. He’s very vocal, and he does a lot of extracurricular things people may not like, and it gets under the skin of some people. When teams play Montreal, guys focus on P.K. and want to run at him. He brings a lot of attention to himself and draws a lot of penalties because of that."

He drinks a lot of water.

He told Fast Company that part of his pre-game routine includes drinking six liters of water. (That's around 202 ounces of H2O, whoa!) When he was younger, however, P.K. used to down nine espresso shots before a game. Now that he's 30, his caffeine intake is closer to a quarter cup of coffee or less.

He created the P.K. Subban Foundation in 2014.

The charitable organization raises money "to empower children and families by creating programs that support them during challenging times in their lives," according to its website.

In 2015, P.K. pledged to donate $10 million to the Montreal Children's Hospital—the largest donation ever made by a Canadian athlete. "We’re going to continue to be innovative and creative and we’re going to continue raising the bar in Montreal for what we believe people should strive for in terms of helping other people and building foundations," he told the Montreal Gazette.

In Nashville, P.K.'s worked with the Metro Nashville Police Department and the Nashville Predators Foundation to create Blue-line Buddies. This program connects underprivileged youth, low income families, and law enforcement.

P.K. Subban owns more than 150 suits.

At least, that's the number of suits he told Sports Illustrated were in his closet back in 2018. He named Dior, Saint Laurent, Ralph Lauren, and Tom Ford as his favorite designers. "But I don’t really shop at designer stores, only for certain things," he added to the publication. "I try to get stuff that no one else has." He and Lindsey appeared on the cover of Sports Illustrated's Fashionable 50 issue and were noted as fashion icons.

He also wears two-piece swimsuits.

Yep, one of his 150 "suits" just happens to be a string bikini. P.K. shared a video of himself wearing an American flag-printed bikini to Instagram this past July 4th.

During another Independence Day, he and Lindsey wore the same U.S.A. one-piece in a hilarious "who wore it better" Instagram post.

P.K. has his own engagement ring.

Lindsey gifted her S.O. with a ring, too, a fact she shared on Twitter last year. "Merry Christmas and happy holidays everyone!! On our 2 year anniversary, in a 'non traditional' move, I asked PK to marry me and he said, Yes! Women aren’t the only ones who should get engagement rings! #MerryChristmas #equality," she wrote.

Ummm, how cute are these two?
