Lindsay Gottlieb, USC women’s basketball sign two five-star prospects within hours
USC women’s basketball is a rocket ship, soaring into the stratosphere and beyond. This program is really taking off under coach Lindsay Gottlieb. The 2-0 start to the season is part of it. The huge win over Ohio State is part of it. Yet, those on-court successes are translating to off-court wins as well. Gottlieb is absolutely crushing it on the recruiting trail, with Saturday being a memorable day for her and the Women of Troy.
Get this: On Saturday, Gottlieb gained commitments from two different five-star prospects within hours of each other. First was Kayleigh Heckel, a five-star guard from New York. Then came Kennedy Smith, a five-star combo guard/wing from Etiwanda High School in nearby Rancho Cucamonga.
Two five-star players within hours of each other? That’s a dramatic and massive windfall on the recruiting trail. Gottlieb is stacking four- and five-star recruits to surround JuJu Watkins next season. USC will be absolutely loaded, not including any high-end transfer portal prospects who might want to join this thriving, rising program.
USC already looks like a Sweet 16-level program. With the influx of top talent next season, the Trojans will have a chance to rise to the top tier of the sport. USC women’s basketball has the look of a program which will soon be in every major national conversation (if it isn’t already).
