Letters to the Editor: The Good Book. Gov. Abbott. Bringing perspective.

Texas Governor Greg Abbott delivered the keynote address at the Texas Values policy forum at the Great Hills Baptist Church in Austin, Texas on Sept. 24, 2021. As part of the address, Governor Abbott signed Senate Bill 4 into law in front of the crowd, which banned "mail-in abortions," like mail-order drugs and prevents physicians from prescribing abortion drugs to women more than seven weeks pregnant.

The Good Book. Gov. Abbott. Bringing perspective.

I'm glad to see that Gov. Abbott and his crew are on a crusade to regulate what our impressionable young Texas can be exposed to in school.

May I suggest that he take a very serious look at one very popular book that has been around for a very, very long time. Some folks even refer to it as a "good" book.

But I'm not here to discuss the merits of it content. I simply take issue with some of the very adult-like content and who is old enough to read it. Specifically, topics such as prostitution, homosexuality, sodomy, infidelity, incest, just to name a few.

Don't get me wrong, the adult subject matter mentioned has a purpose and can bring perspective to these subjects that affect us all. But not in our public schools where our impressionable youth may stumble upon it.

Election audits. Waste of taxpayer money. A White House run?

In regards to the millions being spent on election audits.

First, this would not be happening if Greg Abbott wasn’t intent on running for president. I don’t know why people refer to his running for governor. That’s not his endgame.

Second, there is no need for the audits because we know the elections in Texas were free and fair. Unless the Republican secretary of state supervised fraudulent elections!

Third, what a waste of taxpayer money. Why is the Texas electorate so complacent about there hard earned money being spent on something so frivolous?

Thanksgiving, and a president who cares.

I read about all the bad news these days about the Biden administration. I just have to say I am proud and honored to have this kind of person in charge.

He and his crew are focused on dealing with America's problems. He really cares about the American people and all the people of this planet. Yes, he has problems with immigration, inflation, getting out of Afghanistan and his party is not coming together.

But come on, he wants to help save the planet. He wants to turn around the centuries of discrimination and poverty. He wants to address income inequality. He wants to support the American people through health care, family assistance where it is dearly needed, and build America back better after decades of neglect. This Thanksgiving, I am so thankful for a president who cares.
