Cast your vote for Ayub

I am so happy living in Ventura County. Having a sheriff that is in line with my values and work ethic has also been fortuitous. I am hoping that everyone will take a look at Bill Ayub’s record as Ventura County Sheriff before casting their ballot.

Today’s politics are filled with misinformation and pandering. A real leader such as Bill Ayub does hard things. Sheriff Ayub has built relationships with all constituents, while being honest, fair and transparent. Sheriff Ayub has the backing of rank-and-file officers within the Sheriff’s Department. Sheriff Ayub is ethical, objective and innovative as he tackles Ventura County’s houseless pandemic and mental health issues. I want high standards of accountability such as those that Sheriff Ayub has demonstrated.

Public safety is key for any civilized society. Please cast your vote for Sheriff Bill Ayub and check out his record at www.ayubforsheriff.com.

Leaving stage was Haydn’s idea

Re: Richard W. Hurst’s April 13 letter, “Conductor was a joy to watch”:

I got a chuckle out of Dr. Hurst’s recollection of a humorous moment in a performance by the New West Symphony conducted by the late Boris Brott. The idea of having the musicians leave the stage one by one in the last movement was not Brott’s idea. That was the idea of the composer, Joseph Haydn, for his symphony No. 45, subtitled the “Farewell” symphony. The musicians hadn’t been paid and this was Haydn’s subtle message to his patron: If you don’t pay us, we will not perform anymore. As a musician, it is a fun piece to play.
