Letter to the editor: Not your grandfather’s GOP
This has been quite a couple of days. Viktor Orban was a revered guest speaker at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC). I’m assuming Trump’s other role model, Putin, was too busy wreaking havoc on the innocents in Ukraine to make it. So I guess we have seen what the conservative Republicans would like to see our country look like — a racist, fascist nation. That was the bad news.
The good news is that Dick Cheney, hardly a “woke” liberal, called Trump out as a coward. I hope our country and Republican voters especially, are paying attention.
This is hardly your grandfather’s Republican party. You might want to grab your coats and leave that party. If you have a speck of non-white, non-heterosexual, non-Christian blood in you, you are persona non grata in the nation of the far right’s dreams.
Oh, and grumpy old guy who is filled with anger and hate and loves to write anonymous letters to those of us that don’t bow at the Trump altar, go ahead and send me that nasty, illiterate letter that you so like to get yourself all stirred up with. I figure that the stamp and the cost of the envelope and paper and ink will be much less than to buy your next MAGA hat.
