Leonard Floyd on why he chose Bills in free agency: ‘Super Bowl ring’
The Buffalo Bills have never been shy about wanting to have an elite pass rush to complement a powerful offense.
The Bills made a late splash in free agency to that end, signing Leonard Floyd to a one-year deal.
Floyd, 30, adds a veteran presence to the defensive line across from Von Miller once Miller returns from the knee injury that ended his 2022 season.
General manager Brandon Beane noted that Floyd’s addition was made with this in mind, and Beane is hopeful for a trickle-down effect.
“Yes, you have to stop the run, we know that, but we also have to get to the other quarterback and get him off his spot even if you’re not sacking him,” Beane said via video conference. “I think over the past three years [combined] he’s just under 30 sacks, so to add a guy like that to our group adds competition. I think all our guys will rise up, adding a guy like Leonard Floyd.”
As for Floyd, he only needed three words to explain his decision on why he decided to sign with the Bills: “Super Bowl ring.”
Floyd went on to explain that he feels like Miller helped him get his first Super Bowl win two seasons ago when the Denver Broncos, Miller’s former team, traded him to the Los Angeles Rams. Now Floyd will hope he can repay the favor.
