Craig Shakespeare has been axed as Leicester City manager

Craig Shakespeare has been sacked by Leicester City with the club languishing in the Premier League relegation zone.

The 53-year-old was given his marching orders after Riyad Mahrez snatched a point for the Foxes in a 1-1 draw with West Brom on Monday night.

That result means Leicester have now won just one of their last 10 domestic fixtures under the former midfielder.

Shakespeare signed a three-year contract at the King Power Stadium in June after taking over as caretaker manager following the dismissal of Claudio Ranieri.

Ranieri was brutally axed despite having led the club to the Premier League title the previous season in one the greatest football fairytales ever seen.
