LeBron James posts Kobe Bryant throwback picture to Instagram

On August 23, LeBron James posted a throwback picture of himself with Kobe Bryant, with the emoji caption depicting the message ‘forever Mamba.’ LeBron’s post came hours before the Los Angeles Lakers announced they would unveil a Kobe stature on February 2, 2024.

LeBron has often spoken of his respect for Kobe and the way in which he approached basketball and life in general. Now, as the face of the Lakers, LeBron is tasked with carrying the heavy burden of maintaining the high standards Kobe once set for the franchise he clearly loved.

Yet, LeBron has never been one to shy away from a challenge. After already winning one championship with the Lakers, the future Hall of Famer will be looking to add another ring to his collection before he retires.

LeBron may never win as many rings with the Lakers as Kobe did, but it’s clear he’s hoping to continue carrying the torch.
