LeBron James picks Zach LaVine for dream dunk contest originally appeared on NBC Sports Chicago

LeBron James has been active on Twitter during the 2022 NBA Playoffs, just the fourth postseason he's missed in his 19-year career.

Monday night, with no games to consume, the Lakers star did a wide-ranging Q&A with fans. One of his responses should be of special intrigue to Chicago Bulls fans.

Asked who he would select for his "all-time dunk contest," James responded with Vince Carter, Zach LaVine, Dominique Wilkins and... himself.

LaVine is an obvious inclusion for his decorated dunk contest history. He won back-to-back contests in 2015 and 2016, with the latter featuring an epic head-to-head duel with then-Magic forward Aaron Gordon.

That James included himself may also rankle some, as he never participated in a dunk contest despite widespread clamoring early in his career.

He also omitted Michael Jordan, who won perhaps the most iconic contest in the history of the competition in 1988 with a free-throw line slam to defeat Wilkins.

Alas, James' ideal dunk contest would still be must-watch TV.
