LeBron James' casual, no-look pass fooled everyone on the Lakers

Cleveland Cavaliers star LeBron James is so good at basketball that he can just sense what everyone on the court is going to do. That has to be it, because there’s no other way to explain his extremely casual, no-look pass against the Los Angeles Lakers on Sunday.

With roughly 1:20 left before halftime, James pulled off a play that left the entire Lakers’ roster confused.

While standing at the top of the key, James casually fakes a one-handed lob pass to Kyle Korver. Two Lakers defenders bite and rush to guard Korver so he doesn’t pull up from behind the three-point line.

Problem was, Korver didn’t have the ball. James kept it, and while still staring at Korver, leisurely tossed a one-handed pass to a now wide-open Ante Zizic for a dunk. Even Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, who was right in front of James, couldn’t help but stare at Korver as the ball drifted past his head.

James knew immediately that his play worked to perfection. After throwing the pass, he didn’t even look at Zizic. He turned away from the basket, finally taking a look at Zizic after he’s thrown down the dunk.

Perhaps James was motivated to show off considering the stakes. It was the first time Isaiah Thomas and James met following Thomas’ trade to the Lakers. If there was any bad blood between the two, they didn’t show it during pre-game.

If the extra motivation didn’t come from Thomas, maybe it came from Lamar Odom being in the stands.

Perhaps it was a combination of those things, because one excellent pass wasn’t enough for James. Later in the contest, he sent another on-the-mark toss between Lonzo Ball’s legs.

Is LeBron James psychic? After Sunday’s performance, we can’t rule it out.
