The OKC Blue took part in the G League draft on Monday ahead of the tournament that will take place at Disney World in Orlando, Florida, the same location the NBA had its bubble games to end last season.

On Monday, the Blue drafted three players to join the team: guard Zavier Simpson, forward Vincent Edwards, and guard Rob Edwards.

Simpson played four years at Michigan and went undrafted in 2020.

Vincent Edwards spent four seasons at Purdue, played for the Houston Rockets and their G League team in 2018-19 and then played for the Blue and the Canton Charge in 2019-20.

Rob Edwards played for Cleveland State from 2015-17 and then transferred to ASU, where he played from 2018-20.

G League bubble play will begin in February.

Zavier Simpson

Simpson was selected with the No. 7 pick in the first round. He played four years of college ball at Michigan, where he started 29 games as a sophomore and every game as a junior and senior. Michigan reached March Madness in all three years the NCAA Tournament was played during Simpson's time at the school. The Wolverines made the National Championship game in Simpson's junior year. The guard scored 10 points in the loss to Villanova. He elevated his game in his senior season. Simpson averaged 7.9 assists per game, just barely behind Kameron Langley's and Javon Levi's Div. I-leading 8.0 per game Simpson also posted 12.9 points and 4.5 rebounds per contest while shooting 47.6% from the field and 36% from 3.

Vincent Edwards

Edwards was the lone player of the Blue's draft group to be taken in an NBA draft. He was selected No. 58 overall by the Utah Jazz in 2018 before being traded to the Rockets. He spent most of the season on the Rockets' G League affiliate, the Rio Grande Valley Vipers. The Vipers won the championship that season, a year in which Edwards averaged 9.7 points and 5.3 rebounds over 31 games, according to the Journal News. He appeared in two Rockets games that season. Edwards began last season with the Blue, where he averaged 11 points and 5.3 rebounds over 29 games, before being traded to the Charge. He finished the season with averages of 9.2 points and 4.7 boards per game. The Blue got him back using pick No. 13 in the first round.

Rob Edwards

Edwards was a teammate of Lu Dort for a season at college. The two attended Arizona State together for a year before Dort departed for the NBA. Edwards began his college career at Cleveland State. After posting 16.5 points per game as a sophomore, he transferred to ASU, where he sat out a season before playing there for two years. A starter for 49 of the 59 games he appeared in over those two seasons, he averaged 11.3 points and 3.5 rebounds while shooting 36.8% from 3. The Blue drafted Edwards in the second round with pick No. 18 overall. Oklahoma City did not use its third-round selection. Admiral Schofield, who was briefly on the Thunder this offseason and played for them in the preseason, was the No. 1 pick.
