Laval downs Monsters, 4-1

Mar. 8—Host Laval took care of the Monsters, 4-1, on March 8.

Cleveland (33-17-3-3) had won two games in a row entering the contest. The Monsters maintain a two-point lead over Syracuse in the AHL North.

David Jiricek scored the Monsters' goal, his sixth for the season. It came on a power play with 4:13 remaining in the first period. He was assisted by Marcus Bjork and Luca Del Bel Belluz. The Monsters were 1-for-4 on power plays.

Jiricek's goal tied the game at 1-1. Laval retook the lead just under two minutes later, then added two goals in the second period for the final margin.

Cleveland goalie Pavel made 23 saves.

The teams return to the ice at Laval on March 9.
