Laurel football team rolls to win
Aug. 26—The Laurel High football team opened the season with a win Friday night.
Ben Hennon scored three rushing touchdowns and added a fourth on special teams to lead the Spartans to a 37-6 WPIAL nonconference road win over New Brighton.
Hennon rushed for 230 yards on 27 carries and scores of 27, 27 and 80. He also recovered a blocked punt in the end zone for his fourth score.
Laurel scored first and never looked back. The Spartans led 15-6 at halftime and the score held through three periods.
Laurel outgained New Brighton, 340-156.
The Spartans return to action at 7 p.m. Friday when they host Neshannock (0-1) in a nonconference battle.
