Latest injury update on Bucs All-Pro OT Tristan Wirfs

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers didn’t just suffer a crushing overtime defeat to the Cleveland Browns on Sunday, but they also saw their All-Pro right tackle leave the game on a cart.

Tristan Wirfs went down with what looked like a scary injury to his leg/ankle/foot in overtime, and had to be carted off the field.

That kind of loss obviously loomed larger than the game itself, but it looks like the early reports might not be as serious as originally feared.

X-rays were negative for Wirfs, who was seen walking around the locker room (per Fox Sports’ Greg Auman, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport):

In just his third NFL season, Wirfs has already established himself as one of the best offensive lineman in the entire league. If he avoided a season-ending injury, it would be a huge sigh of relief for the Bucs, who are still in first place in the NFC South despite Sunday’s disappointing loss.
