Latest update on Donovan Smith’s elbow injury

·1 min read

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers went into Week 1 dealing with multiple injuries along the offensive line, and they suffered yet another one in the first half of Sunday night’s regular-season opener against the Dallas Cowboys.

Left tackle Donovan Smith left the game in the second quarter with an elbow injury and didn’t return, leaving the Bucs without their blindside protector for Tom Brady.

Bucs head coach Todd Bowles updated Smith’s status Monday, and it sounds like he’s not dealing with a serious injury. Bowles indicated that having Smith in the lineup for Sunday’s Week 2 road game against the New Orleans Saints isn’t out of the question.

That’s good news for a Bucs offensive line that’s already missing Pro Bowl center Ryan Jensen, and started new faces at each of the three interior spots Sunday night.
