Las Vegas Lights FC partners with marijuana dispensary
Las Vegas Lights FC didn’t waste much time making waves in the world of professional sports.
The United Soccer League’s newest club announced a partnership with Nuwu Cannabis Marketplace on Twitter on Friday, making them the first professional sports team in the United States to have a marijuana dispensary as an official sponsor.

Nevada is one of nine states and Washington, DC, where marijuana is legal for recreational use in the United States. Nuwu Cannabis is the largest recreational marijuana marketplace worldwide, per its website. The dispensary is open 24 hours a day, and even has a drive-thru.
“We love Las Vegas. We love downtown Las Vegas. We’re not ashamed of where we’re from. We fully embrace it. Nuwu has invested all sorts of money and resources into growing downtown,” Lights owner Brett Lashbrook told the Las Vegas Review-Journal. “It’s a traditional sports sponsorship. It’s in a completely regulated industry and this is part of the de-stigmatization of it.”
The Lights were founded last fall, and are the 33rd team in the USL. They kicked off their inaugural season in the league last month.
