The Lakers were riding high after securing their franchise's 17th championship Sunday night in a Game 6 clinching effort against the Heat.
They were riding so high in fact that they forgot one of their own at the arena in the Orlando bubble. Former DeMatha star Quinn Cook didn't make it on the team bus before it departed for their hotel, and thanks to JR Smith, the whole world knows.
How are you gonna leave Quinn Cook back at the arena? That man is a 2 time champ!! 😂 pic.twitter.com/YEWn9WIGie— Ky Carlin (@Ky_Carlin) October 12, 2020
Smith was on an Instagram Live from the team bus Sunday night when he realized his teammates forgot Cook at the arena. Just as Smith starts to tell everyone else what happened, Cook's comment on Smith's live stream cam across the bottom of the stream.
"Come backkkk," Cook wrote.
This isn't the first time we've seen someone miss the team bus after winning a title. After Alabama won a national championship over Clemson in 2016, offensive coordinator Lane Kiffin missed the team bus and had to ride back in the car with Nick Saban.
This stuff, while hilarious, seems to happen a lot. Given the amount on someone like Cook's mind after winning it all, making it to the team bus probably isn't high on his priority list.
Luckily for him, this title was won in a bubble, so it's hard to imagine it was difficult to rejoin his teammates at the Grand Destino.
