Lakers claim Avery Bradley off waivers for final roster spot

The Los Angeles Lakers have claimed Avery Bradley off waivers, as first reported by Shams Charania of The Athletic.

Bradley previously played for the Golden State Warriors in the preseason and was in a battle for one of the final roster spots on that team; however, Golden State released the 30-year-old guard.

The Lakers had Bradley on the roster for the 2019-20 season before the coronavirus pandemic forced the season to shut down, but he opted out of the Orlando bubble. That season, he averaged 8.6 points and shot 36.4% from deep.

Now back with the team, he will provide solid perimeter defense as a wing in the absence of players like Trevor Ariza and Talen Horton-Tucker, who are both recovering from surgeries.

Los Angeles’ roster is now set. There are 15 players on the guaranteed roster and two two-way players after Jay Huff was signed Monday.
