Earlier this week Los Angeles Lakers assistant coach Phil Handy compared Brooklyn Nets star guard Kyrie Irving to the beloved Kobe Bryant.

Bleacher Report writer Nick Jungfer interviewed Handy where he compared both Bryant and Irving’s skillsets, “If Kyrie was 6’6, you would see Kobe mirrored back at you.”

The comparison draws high praise since Bryant was one of the most prolific scorers in the history of basketball. Irving is a lethal shooter and has a knack for finishing among the trees in the paint, showcasing a wide range of skills.

Irving is finally coming around the the Nets organization, earlier in the offseason there were rumors that he was ready to be shipped elsewhere. Luckily it seems that the guard wants to win in Brooklyn.

However, Irving is a topic of discussion for the team if disgruntled superstar Kevin Durant is dealt, following his trade request earlier this offseason. The organization will likely not keep Irving is Durant is moved.
