As you may have heard, Boston Celtics star Kyrie Irving is coming out with a new movie, “Uncle Drew,” based on a series of Pepsi commercials in which he played basketball in old-man makeup. What you might not know is Irving recorded a track for the movie’s soundtrack that also has a throwback feel.

It is called “Ridiculous,” it’s recorded in the vein of early 1990s New Jack Swing tunes, and it’s amazing:

When someone mentions New Jack Swing, the production work of Teddy Riley should come to mind, hits like Bobby Brown’s “My Prerogative” and Michael Jackson’s “Remember the Time” that spawned that sound you heard in Color Me Badd’s “I Wanna Sex You Up,” Boyz II Men’s “Motownphilly” and Bell Biv Devoe’s “Poison,” among countless other sweet nineties tunes. The genre dried up shortly after Montell Jordan’s monstrous “This Is How We Do It,” and thankfully Irving is the savior to resurrect it.

Irving may have been born in 1992, but he still sings “party like it’s ’95” and nails the feel. Given his background belting high school musicals, maybe we should’ve seen this throwback banger coming.

And the chorus. Oh, the glorious chorus:

My whole crew’s ridiculous
Everything that we do is ridiculous
All the girls wanna come and get lit with us
It’s about to get ridiculous
My whole crew’s ridiculous
Style so cold they’re sick of us
Trying to stop me that’s ridiculous
It’s about to get ridiculous

That’s something Weird Celtics Twitter is going to have fun with in 2018:

Now, excuse me while I sing this song for the entirety of the summer.
