Kyler Murray has 'no hard feelings' for fan who struck him after Cardinals' Week 2 win

Kyler Murray sounded ready to put the whole Las Vegas postgame incident with a fan hitting him in the face behind him, even though the city's police department has said the matter is still being investigated.

On Wednesday it was on to Week 3, and the first chance at the Los Angeles Rams since they hammered Murray's Arizona Cardinals 34-11 in the NFC Wild Card round of last season's playoffs.

Murray was asked about the incident, which happened when the quarterback went to one of the end zones at Allegiant Stadium to celebrate a wild overtime win over the Raiders with Cardinals fans, and things got a little out of hand. Video showed a fan reach out and deliver an open-handed slap to Murray's face.

"It was just, you know, stuff happens fast. I don't know. I know every person I've hit in the face, I did it for a reason," Murray said. "I don't know if he probably didn't know where he was. It was a pretty live game. Vegas is Vegas. I'm sure he was having fun. But again, I don't know. I don't think any player should be getting touched in that manner. But no hard feelings for the guy. If I see him then I'll shake his hand. But it is what it is."

Murray then said he would do it all over again, when asked if he'd be cautious about going over to the stands.

"That was crazy. I can't believe that happened," said Cardinals wide receiver Hollywood Brown, a very close friend of Murray's. "They gotta find that guy."

Injury updates and practice report

The Cardinals were without Brown, center Rodney Hudson, tight end Zach Ertz, offensive lineman Kelvin Beachum, linebacker Ezekiel Turner, wide receiver Rondale Moore and offensive lineman Justin Pugh in practice Wednesday, but wide receiver Andy Isabella was back after missing last week.

Running back James Conner stretched with the team but went back inside the facility when that period was over. He is also day to day with an ankle injury from last weekend's game at Las Vegas, but could see actual practice time Thursday.

Cardinals head coach Kliff Kingsbury said for most of the missing players, it was just a day of rest after heavy workloads in Week 2. Officially, nine players were listed as not having practiced on the first official injury report of the week, but only Conner, linebacker Ezekiel Turner (ankle) and Moore (hamstring) were injured.

Moore is day to day, but Kingsbury said he knows the offense well enough that if he can't practice until Friday, Moore can still play in this Sunday's game.

Isabella said he injured his back while lifting weights last week but is fine.

Cornerback Trayvon Mullen Jr. is getting closer to playing in his first game, but even if he's ready physically, he still has to understand the calls on defense against a talented Rams offense, Kingsbury said. Mullen practiced in full on Wednesday.

Defensive lineman J.J. Watt was limited in practice due to a calf injury.

Friendly rivalry

Kingsbury and Rams head coach Sean McVay are good friends, but when they talk, McVay is usually more about football while Kingsbury chooses pop culture, he said.

The two discuss the leadership of their teams more than anything else. Kingsbury said he's learned a great deal from McVay and reiterated that he wouldn't be the Cardinals head coach without the help of McVay's insight, provided to Cardinals general manager Steve Keim during the most recent search for a head coach.

"He can talk football and tell stories with the best of them," Kingsbury said, "and I think that's why Amazon wanted to pay him all that money."

McVay was reportedly offered millions to leave the Rams and work on Amazon TV football broadcasts.

Quick out

* The Cardinals re-signed WR Andre Baccellia to the practice squad, a day after he was released. Baccellia played 19 offensive snaps, three special teams snaps and caught two passes for 12 yards in the Cardinals' win over the Raiders in Week 2.

Injury report

Three players did not practice for the Cardinals on Thursday — wide receiver Rondale Moore (hamstring), linebacker Ezekiel Turner (calf) and rookie tight end Trey McBride (personal reasons).

Running back James Conner (ankle) was upgraded to limited. Defensive end J.J. Watt (calf) was limited for a second straight day.

For the Rams, center Brian Allen (knee), cornerback Cobie Durant  (hamstring), and wide receiver Van Jefferson (knee) did not practice and defensive back Jordan Fuller (hamstring) was limited.

Cornerback David Long Jr. (groin) was downgraded from limited to out on Thursday.
