The Patriots presented Van Noy with the 2019 Ron Burton Community Service Award on Tuesday night, recognizing the linebacker for his "outstanding commitment in giving back to the community."
Van Noy, who along with his wife Marissa launched the Van Noy Valor Foundation to support adopted, foster and disadvantaged children, joins an impressive list of past recipients that includes Matthew Slater, Devin McCourty and Rob Gronkowski.
The Patriots linebacker graciously accepted the award in a tweet Tuesday night ... that included a reference to a certain local radio program.
Why the #felgerandmazz hashtag? Well, let's just say Van Noy has had a healthy beef with 98.5 The Sports Hub's "Felger & Mazz," whose hosts occasionally have been critical of the linebacker's play and propensity to speak his mind.
Van Noy called out the show back in January and even had his Wikipedia page edited to reflect the back-and-forth.
It appears Van Noy is still using the "Felger & Mazz" slights as motivation, and it's certainly working. The 28-year-old has transformed from backup linebacker to key defensive cog in just two-plus seasons since his trade from the Detroit Lions in 2016.
