Knicks sign Jacob Toppin, DaQuan Jeffries to 10-day contracts

The Knicks have signed Jacob Toppin and DaQuan Jeffries to 10-day contracts, the team announced Thursday.

Fans will know Toppin not just as the younger brother of former first-round pick Obi Toppin, but as the latest Knick to participate in the Slam-Dunk Contest.

Toppin, 23, has appeared in just five games with the Knicks this season, averaging 6.6 minutes, 2.6 points (on 56 percent shooting) and 1.2 rebounds per game.

Jeffries, 26, returns to the Knicks after appearing in 10 games this season. In that time, he averaged three minutes per game while averaging 1.1 points and 0.5 rebounds. However, Jeffries provided the Westchester Knicks some massive production in the form of 23.2 points and 6.4 rebounds while averaging 37.4 minutes per game in 10 games (eight starts) with New York’s G League team.

With the number of injuries on the Knicks roster, they had to fill it out with depth pieces while Julius Randle and OG Anunoby try to return from lengthy absences.

The Knicks begin the second half of the season Thursday against the Philadelphia 76ers.
