Knicks’ Miles McBride neared triple-double in NBA G League

New York Knicks rookie Miles McBride on Friday finished with a near triple-double on assignment with the Westchester Knicks in the NBA G League.

McBride produced 23 points, 11 assists, eight rebounds and one steal to lead the Knicks to a 121-117 win over the College Park Skyhawks. He went 8-of-15 from the field, including 3-of-7 from 3-point range, in 39 minutes of work.

The performance by McBride followed a 31-point outburst with Westchester versus the Skyhawks on Thursday. He once again flashed his ability to create for himself and drive into the paint while also shoot from the midrange and beyond the arc.

Knicks head coach Tom Thibodeau previously expressed how important it is for McBride to play with Westchester when possible. The assignments have given him a great chance to stay ready and continue his development as the Knicks believe he has a bright future.

The playing time may not necessarily be there now for McBride but the 36th pick has the luxury of playing with Westchester to stay sharp and work on his game. He is averaging 26.8 points, 8.5 assists, six rebounds and 1.8 steals with Westchester.
