The KnicksJericho Sims came up short in the NBA Slam Dunk Contest, falling in the first round of the contest with the shortest man in the competition, the Philadelphia 76ers' Mac McClung, taking home the honors.

The 6-foot-2 McClung took home the trophy with three perfect 50 dunks.

Sims converted his first attempt in the first round by throwing the ball off the backboard for a two-handed jam finishing with his head high above the rim and his right arm in the rim a la Vince Carter.

He earned a 47.6 aggregate score from the five judges – Dominque Wilkins (49 out of 50), Jamal Crawford (49), Lisa Leslie (48), Harold Milner (48) and Karl Malone (44).

After one dunk, Sims had the second-highest score behind McClung’s perfect score of 50, besting the New Orleans Pelicans' Trey Murphy III (46.6) and the Houston Rockets' KJ Martin (46).

And McClung’s first dunk of the night was quite something.

For their second dunks, Martin scored 47.2 and Murphy followed up with a tremendous windmill dunk for a near-perfect 49.4.

Sims followed up his first attempt by putting his entire right arm in the rim while grabbing a piece of mail hanging from the net. However, his score of 47.8 was not enough to make it to the finals past Murphy.

McClung, for the second straight round, had the best dunk to score a 49.8 with only Leslie giving him a 49.

McClung won the competition despite appearing in just four NBA games for a career total of 25 minutes. He signed a two-way contract with the Sixers on Feb. 14 and has yet to play a game in Philadelphia after appearing for the Chicago Bulls and Los Angeles Lakers during the 2021-22 season.

After the contest, Sims said his arm was "a little sore, but I'll be alright."

Sims was hoping to become the fourth Knicks player to take home the title after Kenny 'Sky' Walker (1989), Nate Robinson (2006, 2009, and 2010) and Obi Toppin (2022).

Earlier in the night Knicks' teammate Julius Randle was eliminated in the first round of the Three-Point Contest. The Portland Trail Blazers' Damian Lillard would go on to win.

Here are McClung's three other dunks.
