Alec Burks' ankle injury just continue to hold him off the court, as the Knicks announced on Wednesday that the veteran is now in a walking boot.

Further testing on the left ankle showed that Burks needed. a boot and he will be evaluated once again in 7-10 days.

He got off to a hot start for the Knicks in the first three games, averaging 21 points and hitting 53.1 percent of his shots. Burks was a solid contributor off the bench and asserted himself as the sixth man for the team initially.

Now the Knicks are relying on more minutes for players like RJ BarrettReggie Bullock, and now Austin Rivers since his return to the team. New York has enjoyed some success, winning gritty basketball games with their current roster.

But Burks will be a key contributor down the road, and the Knicks certainly hope he can return soon.
