Klay Thompson cleared to play in Game 2 of NBA Finals

The Golden State Warriors will have Klay Thompson on the court for Game 2 of the NBA Finals. Thompson suffered a leg contusion in Game 1 that caused him to briefly leave the contest.

Sources told Shams Charania of Yahoo Sports that Thompson was dealing with a high ankle sprain and some bruising, but that he was aiming to play in Game 2.

He was cleared by the team roughly 45 minutes before the start of the game.

Guard Patrick McCaw was also cleared to play. Andre Iguodala was ruled out with a bone bruise and a contusion on his left leg. The Warriors also announced that they would give JaVale McGee the start over Kevon Looney in Game 2.

Thompson suffered his injury in the first quarter of Game 1 after a collision with J.R. Smith. It looked pretty ugly at the time.

Thompson, however, was able to return to the bench by the end of the first quarter. He was back on the quart at the start of the second quarter, and finished with 24 points.

The Warriors went on to win Game 1 by a score of 124-114. They lead the Cleveland Cavaliers 1-0 in the NBA Finals.
