Kirk Cousins: Redskins vs Chiefs

Quarterback Kirk Cousins and the offense did not look good going into week 3 against the Raiders. If not for a good final drive by the offense and the running game going nuts, the Skins could have easily gone to 0 and 2 despite a defense which is on the rise. However, during the game, everything seemed to come together for this team. Kirk was almost perfect with a 150 % passer rating, 365 yards and 3 touchdowns. This game was, in the truest sense of the word, a team victory. Captain Kirk played well at the helm of this team victory. The Redskins seem to have a much better defense, and it’s been shown that great teams find different ways to win each week.

Is Kirk ready to take that next step to greatness? Like in primetime versus the Packers last year, will we see Kirk kick his yips in the clutch and under pressure to be not just the stud All Pro we fans hope he is, but to be the type of leader to find a way to win in the face of adversity? Or will he show up and let the yips take him again?

The Redskins will play Monday Night Football at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City versus the best team in the NFL at the moment. This appears to be a perfect stage and the perfect time for Kirk to show who he really is. Will this be the game that he ascends to greatness and leads the team on a playoff run, or does he do just enough when needed to help his team win? Of course there is another option, which is stay the same and find a way to beat himself. In my mind, that’s just no longer an option.

This is just one fan’s opinion. I hope I’m right.
