Kim Mulkey contract: How LSU women's basketball coach compares to Dawn Staley, Geno Auriemma
Kim Mulkey continues to cash in on LSU's national championship win over Iowa in April, this time in a far more literal sense.
After just two seasons in Baton Rouge, Mulkey is reportedly primed to agree to a 10-year, $36 million contract with the Tigers, the richest in women's college basketball. Two of her assistants also received raises, as well.
Mulkey's contract surpasses the deals of South Carolina's Dawn Staley (signed in 2021) and UConn's Geno Auriemma (also signed in 2021) in total money. Before joining LSU, Mulkey enjoyed an extremely successful career with Baylor, where she led the Bears to three national championships and four Final Four appearances.
While the extension undoubtedly comes early, Mulkey was at the forefront of one of the most exciting tournament runs in recent history. With Angel Reese and Alexis Morris paving the way, the Tigers were able to unseat Caitlin Clark and the Hawkeyes in the national championship.

With the country watching, it makes sense LSU would lock Mulkey up now. She has a strong record of success dating back to 2000, and LSU is hoping she'll carry that success over the next 10 years.
How much will Kim Mulkey make in 2023-24?
According to a copy of Mulkey's contract obtained by USA TODAY, she will make $36 million over its 10-year duration, including the $32 million in supplemental income: good for an average annual value of $3.6 million over the course of the contract.
Per contract details, she will make $400,000 in base salary in 2023-24, on top of the $2.75 million provided to her in the contract. That results in a salary of $3.15 million for the 2023-24 season.
Her contract will escalate to $3.65 million by the last year of her deal in 2032, not including her $400,000 base salary.
How much will Dawn Staley make in 2023-24?
Staley is currently coaching on a seven-year, $22.4 million deal she signed in 2021.
The Gamecocks coach is hitting an escalator this season, and she will make $3.1 million this year, down from the $3.3 million she made in 2022 due to a nuance in her contract.
