CBS Sports has selected the Florida vs. Tennessee matchup for its Week 4 game of the week, scheduled to kick off at 3:30 p.m. EDT.
The 3:30 p.m. EDT timeslot is seen as the biggest in the SEC. CBS Sports has the contractual right to select the game it wants to air in that exclusive timeslot. After CBS decides, the rest of the SEC schedule falls as ESPN distributes the remaining games across its networks, including the SEC Network (operated by ESPN).
The Orange and Blue are coming off an embarrassing loss to Kentucky in their SEC opener that saw their overall record drop to 1-1. The Utah victory to open the season showed what the Gators are capable of when firing on all cylinders. The Gators will host USF this Saturday, making the matchup against Tennessee the first road game of the Billy Napier era.
Tennessee is coming off an impressive 34-17 OT victory on the road against Pittsburgh. The Top 25 matchup saw the Volunteers move to 2-0 on the season and jump to No. 16 in the USA Today Coaches Poll. The Volunteers will host Akron this Saturday, making the Florida game their first SEC game of the season.
The Gators have won five straight games against the Volunteers and 16 of the last 17 matchups. If both teams take care of their non-conference opponents this week, this game will presumably but the first meeting where both teams enter the game ranked since 2017, a 26-20 Gators victory.
