Key week ahead for Jacksonville, Rusk baseball squads

Apr. 1—Jacksonville and Rusk baseball teams will be looking to play their way into possible post season contention this week.

The Indians and Eagles are both 0-3 (tied for last place) in District 18-4A play, but are only two games behind Palestine, Madisonville and Hudson, who are in a three-way tie for second place in the loop order.

The Tuesday schedule has Rusk, who is 9-11-2 overall, scheduled for a visit to Madisonville while the Indians (5-11-1) will head south for a game against Hudson.

Neither the Tribe or the Eagles can afford to go winless this week, if they hope to contend for a playoff spot.

Friday's schedule will feature Rusk visiting Summers Norman Field in Jacksonville to test the Tribe.

With a 19-1-2 overall record, 3-0 in district, the Panthers of Bullard are in first place in the district standings.

Bullard will host Palestine Tuesday and will trek to Hudson Friday, to wrap up the first half of conference play.
