Key LSU defensive player exits in first half with injury, heading to locker room

·1 min read

The injury bug bit the Tigers early in its season-opener on Sunday against Florida State.

On the first drive of the ballgame for the Seminoles, LSU suffered a couple of injuries to two of their best players. Defensive linemen Maason Smith and BJ Ojulari both went down in back-to-back plays.

Ojulari is fine after some time in the injury tent, but the update on Smith is not as promising. Smith suffered what seemed to be a left leg injury. He was helped off the field by trainers, and upon leaving the injury tent he was sent directly to the locker room for X-rays.

Hopefully, his injury is not as bad as it seems. The Tigers could ill afford to lose a guy like Smith just one drive into the 2022 campaign. Ojulari re-entered the game for the second drive, so that is great news for Brian Kelly and the team. As soon as more information is released on Smith’s status, you can find it right here on LSU Wire.
