Kevin Stefanski happy with direction of offense after free agency

Speaking for the first time since NFL free agency began,  head coach Kevin Stefanski had good things to say about the direction of the offense for the Cleveland Browns. Talking about the veteran additions of Marquise Goodwin and Jordan Akins it was clear that Stefanski was happy to have those two weapons added to his arsenal. Not to mention the trade for wide receiver Elijah Moore.

But the most important part of his media availability was his talking about confidence in Deshaun Watson. Stefanski spoke about giving Watson the freedom to change plays at the line of scrimmage and it sounded like a head coach that is in step with his franchise quarterback. Let’s take a look at some of the highlights from Stefanski on Monday.

Stefanski on additions of Marquise Goodwin and Jordan Akins:

The Browns have been limited by their ability to stretch the field vertically for the past three seasons. Adding a veteran like Marquise Goodwin who has made a career out of being fast helps with that. In addition, they add a nice athlete at tight end Jordan Akins to compliment David Njoku, needless to say, Stefanski is glad to have these two at his disposal.

Kevin Stefanski on Deshaun Watson changing calls:

Stefanski starts by highlighting the fact that no one has a better view of the defense than the quarterback. He admitted that Watson changed calls at the line last season and at times made great adjustments. He also believes that as Watson gets more comfortable in the system you will see even better results at the line of scrimmage.

Stefanski talking about the addition of Elijah Moore:

The biggest addition to the offense so far has been new wide receiver Elijah Moore coming over from the Jets. Stefanski agrees that Moore is a weapon that can win at multiple levels and he likely already has a plan for how he intends to get the speedy playmaker involved.
