Although Brooklyn let one slip away on Sunday, the start of Kevin Durant’s Nets career has been anything but a disappointment. While scoring was a little more of a challenge for the Nets in their 106-104 loss to the Hornets, Durant was as effective as he’s been all season, following up his 29-point performance on Christmas Day with another one in Charlotte.

This time, however, Durant’s 29 points were a team-high, with Kyrie Irving logging his lowest scoring total of the young 2020-21 season (25 points) in the loss to Charlotte on 10-for-17 shooting (3-for-8 from beyond the arc).

Although Durant missed an important, late-game mid-range jumper he might normally make, Brooklyn’s star forward remained efficient from the floor in the loss. He scored his 29 points on 9-for-15 shooting, knocking down five of his seven 3-point attempts. The only scoring area in which Durant struggled was at the charity stripe, where the career 88.2% free-throw shooter missed three of his nine attempts.
