UK spokesman Tony Neely said on Wednesday that Rock Oliver will remain with UK athletics, but his role going forward and which sports he will work with has not been determined.
UK posted an opening on its jobs website on Wednesday for "Football Performance Coordinator." The position is described as overseeing the physical development for "strength, speed, agility, and quickness development," while also being responsible for giving players nutritional advice and taking account of their mental state. The position requires "strength and conditioning coaching experience," according to the listing.
Oliver joined UK as the director of strength & conditioning after Joker Phillips became head coach in January 2010. He joined the staff at Phillips' request.
Oliver was previously the associate strength and conditioning coach with the Cincinnati Bengals, but has also been head strength coach for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the New Jersey Nets. This is his second stint at UK after he worked with the basketball team from 1989-92. He also works with the basketball team, and has worked with John Calipari at previous stops.
The deadline to apply for the "Football Performance Coordinator" is Dec. 11.
