Kenny Pickett and the mental perspective from the pocket
In just over a week, the football world will descend upon Indianapolis, for the 2022 NFL Combine.
While the shape of that event is yet to be decided — with ongoing concerns from players and their agents about the NFL’s proposed bubble for prospects — perhaps no single part of the upcoming combine is going to draw more attention than one isolated measurement.
That measurement? Pittsburgh quarterback Kenny Pickett’s right hand.
Despite rewriting large portions of the Panthers’ record books, including some marks previously set by Dan Marino, Pickett is being viewed with skepticism by some in the evaluation community, due to his reportedly small right hand. Pickett, who wears gloves when playing, has a double-jointed right thumb and did not have his right hand measured at the Senior Bowl, as he was lookin to find a way to get an accurate measurement at the combine.
