Kennesaw State QB Ladarius Clardy killed in shooting

Kennesaw State quarterback Ladarius Clardy was killed in a shooting on Thursday. He was 18.

Clardy was killed near Pensacola, Florida. He appeared in two games in the team's delayed spring season and was set to be a sophomore in the fall of 2021.

According to the Escambia County Sheriff, Clardy and another man were found shot in a car at approximately 1 a.m. The man, who was in the passenger seat, was transported to a hospital while Clardy was pronounced dead at the scene. The sheriff said that at least 50 rounds had struck the car.

"We are devastated and heartbroken over the death of Ladarius Clardy," Kennesaw State coach Brian Bohannon said in a statement. Ladarius was an excellent teammate and left a mark on this program with his positive attitude. He will be deeply missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with Ladarius' family at this difficult time."

The NCAA also issued a brief statement about Clardy's death.

Per WEAR-TV, no suspects are immediately known. The car was found after it crashed into a ravine. A $3,000 reward is available for anyone who has information about the shooting.
