Kennedy Brooks on DeMarco Murray: ‘He’s been helpful through everything’

Kennedy Brooks is coming off of another 1,000-campaign for the Oklahoma Sooners. Coming off of the layoff due to COVID-19 concerns, Brooks looked like he hadn’t missed a beat during his time off, continuing to frustrate defenses with his patient and elusive running style.

His future is not yet known, but when he does decide to make the jump to the NFL level, Kennedy Brooks will make some fortunate team very happy. They’ll be getting a pro-ready running back that will have a better understanding than most of the work that goes into being a successful professional football player. Because he’s had the benefit of working under a former NFL rushing leader in running backs coach DeMarco Murray.

Asked how Murray’s helped Kennedy Brooks in 2021, the Sooners starting running back had this to say:

Man, he’s been a big help for me, just being a pro. He’s done it in college, he’s done it in the NFL. Man, just everything he says to me, I take it all in. He’s improved my vision, my catching, what I need to do to make this cut, this read, Man, he’s been helful through everything, and man, he’s a great coach. I love him.

Brooks has been one of the most productive backs in college football in the last four seasons with more than 3,000 yards rushing in his Oklahoma Sooners career. Murray’s helped build upon an already strong foundation.

It’s not only the NFL success that has helped buoy Murray’s status with the Oklahoma Sooners. He’s also a really good coach and an incredibly effective recruiter as well. Murray’s helped land and retain some significant recruits over the last few weeks and is an instrumental piece to Oklahoma’s football program.
