Victims identified

During a news conference on Sunday, officials released the names of the six people who were killed in Winterset.

Four of the seven people killed in the storms were members of the same family who had sought shelter inside a home that was razed by a powerful tornado, authorities said.

Lucas County officials identified the Chariton man who was killed in Saturday's storm as Jesse Theron Fisher.

As the cleanup went on, Iowans shared more stories of survival and destruction: "(My dad) was still at the bottom of the stairs. He didn’t quite get into the basement. So I thought he was gone."

Members of the Winterset boys basketball team expected to spend the days before the state tournament concentrating on their opponent. Instead, they gathered Sunday to help clean up after Saturday's deadly storm.
