Kate Scott will make history later this month, just her latest first in a string of broadcasting feats.
Scott will be on the call when the Warriors host the Chicago Bulls on March 29. She will be joined by Mary Murphy and Kerith Burke on a special all-female broadcast team, something the station is doing in honor of Women’s History Month.
Scott will provide play-by-play while Murphy will provide color commentary. Burke, an NBC Sports Bay Area reporter, will host both the pregame and postgame shows.
Scott has made plenty of history already in her broadcasting career. She is the first woman to ever call an NFL game on the radio, and the first to ever call a football game on the Pac-12 Network. She spent five years with the Pac-12 Network, and is now a play-by-play announcer with NBC Sports. She also hosts the Morning Roast radio show on 95.7 The Game, something she’s done since October.
She is the second woman to make broadcasting news on Thursday, too. Lisa Byington will call games at the men’s NCAA tournament next week on CBS and TNT, and is believed to be the first woman to do so in tournament history.
