It's hard to imagine 2020 becoming more bizarre, but Kanye West announcing plans to run for US President in this year's election is certainly tipping the scale.

The rapper revealed on Twitter that he is now a candidate in the election, which will take place in November. He wrote: “We must now realise the promise of America by trusting God, unifying our vision and building our future. I am running for president of the United States #2020VISION."

And it seems wife Kim Kardashian is on board with the bid, as she quoted the tweet and added an American flag.

And just when you thought things couldn't get more bizarre, Elon Musk replied to Kanye, telling him: "You have my full support!"

Of course, it's not the first time Kanye announced plans to run for President. In a speech at the 2015 Video Music Awards, he said: “It’s about ideas, people who believe in truth. And yes, as you probably could have guessed, I have decided in 2020 to run for president.”

However, he met US president Donald Trump in 2016 at the Oval Office, and appeared to postpone plans by tweeting “#2024”.

Many fans were surprised by Kanye's announcement so late into the election (the deadline to file has already passed in several US states). But, let's be honest - stranger things have happened.
