Chiefs to host Chargers in Amazon Prime Video's first 'Thursday Night Football' game
Amazon has its first “Thursday Night Football” game queued up, and the AFC West battle is sure to be a great one.
The league announced during the NFL draft on Thursday night that the Kansas City Chiefs will host the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 2 of the season this fall.
That game, scheduled for Sept. 15, will be the first game broadcast exclusively on Amazon Prime Video — part of its new exclusive deal for “Thursday Night Football.”

ESPN analyst Kirk Herbstreit, who will work the Thursday night games along with his role at ESPN, is set to call the game alongside Al Michaels, who is making the jump there from NBC. The game is the first of 15 that Amazon Prime Video will carry each season through 2032, though each game will be streamed for free in each team's home market.
The game will mark the Chiefs’ home opener, and should be a great contest between Patrick Mahomes and Justin Herbert. While not every Amazon Prime Video will live up to this matchup, at least on paper, the game is a great start for the new “Thursday Night Football” era.
